Opportunities

WISCLab’s active research program has frequent opportunities for families and individual participation in new projects.

We are regularly seeking participants to provide and/or evaluate speech data in various on-going and related studies. Individuals participating in these projects are contributing directly to WISCLab’s aim of informing clinical practice for people who have motor speech disorders.

Study Participation

Here at the WISC Lab, we collect speech data as part of a long-term study on how children and adults develop and use spoken language. Participating is a great way to support research that directly informs clinical practice for people with communication disorders.

Typically Developing Children

Help us learn more about when children learn to speak clearly.

We’re looking for children that meet the following criteria:

  • 7-14 years of age
  • Normal hearing
  • Speak English as their primary language

Typically Developing Adults

Additionally, WISCLab has on-going recruitment of adult listeners

You are eligible if are:

  • 18-45 years of age
  • A native speaker (English)
  • Have normal hearing
  • Have no known disabilities

Student Involvement

The WISC lab generally has openings every semester for new students to join the lab.

  • Course credit for the undergraduate Honors program
  • Paid student hourly position
  • Unpaid volunteer opportunities
